BLUE DUCK SCOOTERS RE-LAUNCH IN BRYAN, TEXAS
City had requested a temporary pause in operations due to the COVID pandemic
SAN ANTONIO AND BRYAN, TX, JULY 30, 2020 — Blue Duck Scooters, a San Antonio-based micromobility company operating electric scooters in Texas and the Southeastern U.S., is re-launching a fleet of scooters in Bryan, Texas on August 6, 2020. Residents and visitors will once again be able to rent scooters in the downtown area from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, using the Blue Duck mobile app.
Megan McNamara, Blue Duck’s Senior Director of Government Partnerships, said, “In late March, because of the coronavirus, the city asked us to pause operations out of concern for the health and safety of the community and we agreed to do so. As we begin a return to familiar activities, our scooters offer riders an alternative mode of transportation which allows them to maintain social distancing measures.”
“Even before the pause, Blue Duck had implemented enhanced cleaning protocols to ensure the health and safety of riders and employees,” said Jeff Mangold, Blue Duck’s Co-Founder and Senior Director of Fleet Management. “Scooters are sanitized daily and Blue Duck team members continue to observe guidelines issued by local and state officials, including wearing masks or facial coverings, frequent handwashing, screening for fever and symptoms upon arriving to work, and sanitizing workspaces and vehicles,” he added.
“We are impressed with Blue Duck’s commitment to health and safety protocols for both riders and employees and look forward to them resuming service and completing their pilot program with the City of Bryan this summer and fall,” said Joey Dunn, Deputy City Manager for the City of Bryan.
