BLUE DUCK SCOOTERS ROLLS OUT
EXCLUSIVE FLEET IN WACO, TEXAS
Scooters to be on downtown streets on July 17th
SAN ANTONIO AND WACO, 14 JULY 2020 — Blue Duck Scooters, a San Antonio-based micromobility company operating electric scooters in Texas and the Southeastern U.S., will launch a fleet of scooters in downtown Waco on July 17, 2020, under an exclusive one-year contract with the city.
Initially operating downtown and in East Waco, the scooters will be available to rent seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Riders can download the Blue Duck app to their mobile phones to locate and unlock scooters. During the first week of operation, all rides will be half-price.
City of Waco Traffic Engineer Christine Miller, P.E., said, “The City of Waco is excited to have a new transportation option in our community. The scooters will provide another way for Wacoans and visitors to get around in downtown and East Waco. We look forward to working alongside Blue Duck and our community for this one-year pilot program.”
“We have been working closely with city staff to develop our launch and implementation plan,” said Megan McNamara, Blue Duck’s Senior Director of Government Partnerships. “Blue Duck has recently upgraded our technology platform, and we’re excited to offer riders in Waco a first look at our new app.”
Blue Duck has also implemented enhanced cleaning protocols to help combat the coronavirus. Scooters are sanitized daily in order to protect the health and safety of the community. As businesses reopen and regular activities resume, scooters offer riders an alternative mode of transit to buses and rideshare that allows them to maintain physical distancing measures.
Jeff Mangold, Blue Duck Co-Founder and Senior Director of Fleet Management, said, “Our fleet management team has been preparing to launch in Waco for several weeks, building out our local operations center. We will train our local operations team to Blue Duck’s high standards of maintenance, safety, and sanitation.”
