BLUE DUCK TO LAUNCH IN COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS
Private Fleet Will Serve Midtown City Center Planned Community
SAN ANTONIO, 26 MARCH 2020 — Blue Duck, a Texas-based electric scooter company operating in Texas and the Southeastern U.S., has entered an agreement to be the exclusive provider of electric scooter and other micromobility assets to Midtown City Center in College Station, Texas. The agreement with College Station Town Center, the developer of Midtown City Center, runs for two years and is renewable.
Midtown City Center is a 232-acre residential and mixed-use commercial development in the center of College Station. One of the only truly walkable off-campus areas of the city, Midtown City Center will house 675 single-family homes and more than 1,700 multifamily units. Residents will be able to access retail outlets, office space, a YMCA and hotels within the planned community.
“Blue Duck currently operates a public fleet in nearby Bryan, Texas, however, this will be our first exciting private fleet in the area,” said Andre Champagne, Blue Duck CIO. “Innovative master-planned communities like Midtown City Center are ideally suited for using our clean, eco-friendly electric scooters to reduce their carbon footprints, while also providing a true solution to their common issues of vehicle congestion, parking, and emissions,” added Champagne.
“We are excited to offer Blue Duck’s electric scooters as an excellent amenity to enhance the experience in Midtown City Center,” said James Murr, CEO of College Station Town Center, Inc. “Not only will Blue Duck’s scooters provide a quiet, convenient, and efficient means of transportation around our community, they are seriously fun, and they will be an exciting activity for residents and visitors alike,” he said.
Earlier this month, Blue Duck announced it is launching the first fleet of scooters on a film studio complex at The Ranch Studios near New Orleans. Midtown City Center is the company’s second private fleet partnership.
“We are thrilled to announce Midtown City Center as our second private fleet,” said Blue Duck CEO, Michael Keane, adding, “Launching both of these fleets in one month is important validation of our private-fleet business model.”
