BLUE DUCK LAUNCHES FLEET IN EDINBURG, TEXAS
First Municipal Scooter-Sharing Program in Lower Rio Grande Valley
SAN ANTONIO, 20 December 2019 – Blue Duck, a San Antonio-based electric scooter operator, will launch its fleet in Edinburg, Texas on December 30th. The City of Edinburg is leading the way in micromobility with the first municipal scooter sharing program in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
City officials and staff will join representatives of Blue Duck in the courtyard of City Hall at 10:00 a.m. that day to introduce the program to the community. City staff will review the objectives of the program and Blue Duck staff will discuss operational details and demonstrate how the scooters are used.
“Blue Duck has been great about working with Edinburg to make sure the e-scooters are integrated into our community in a safe, smart way,” said Mayor Richard Molina. “This is going to be a tremendous help especially around the courthouse area where mobility is restricted and finding parking is so frustrating. Now you can just hop on a scooter and get where you need to go quickly, safely and affordably.”
“We had the pleasure of attending an Edinburg Community Forum in October where we had the opportunity to hear directly from the community. We got some valuable input and addressed some really great questions and concerns,” said Blue Duck Government Relations Manager Alec Martinez. “We look forward to continuing that conversation in a Q&A at the launch event,” added Mr. Martinez.
Blue Duck representatives will be giving away helmets and t-shirts to attendees at the event.
Blue Duck will operate its fleet in Edinburg between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. seven days a week. Users can locate scooters and unlock them using the Blue Duck app, which they can download from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
